Today is a special day in the United States, they are celebrating Thanksgiving and it is a beautiful day to give thanks and be grateful for everything we have and who we are. It is a day to count our many blessings that God has given us.
I must say that I am very grateful for many things. I am grateful to be alive at this time when the world is going through a major change; I am grateful for my beautiful family – for my dad; my mom who is watching me up in heaven and who is with me all the time; for my beautiful children who are one of the most amazing blessings – there is not a day that goes by that I watch them as they sleep and thank the Lord for having them in my life.
I am very grateful for my husband who although sometimes doesn’t understand me, supports me in everything I do and helps me in his special ways. I give thanks for the house we live in, and although it’s so far away from work, it gives me and my kids a chance to talk about things, to laugh, to cry (when the two of them get on each other’s nerves) and to learn about new things on the radio, when I’m driving them to school or going to work. I’m so blessed to have my car – who I call Aimee, who takes me everywhere I need to go, and believe me it’s a non-stop kind of thing going to and fro every single day.
I am thankful for my beautiful sisters who are so alike and yet, at the same time have different personalities and who are just themselves. I am grateful for their beautiful children, my nieces and nephew who make my day with their beautiful smiles and happy stories.
I am glad that I have a job, that I teach beautiful children, old and young and who sometimes make me just want to drop onto the sofa when I get home because they absolutely drag the energy out of me, and yet we have our good times in class, even if it’s a lesson about grammar.
I give thanks to the stunning nature that surrounds me. The sunrise and sunset that happen every single day and that celebrate their being with beautiful pink and purple colours; for the different phases of the moon and for the effect they have on me; for the autumn leaves and the heat against my skin in summer and for pretty flowers in Spring.
Finally, I am grateful for myself. For having the opportunity to live this particular life and to overcome all my karma from previous lives, to learn how to love and to just be. I am so so thankful for You, dear God, who I see every time I look at nature or the people who surround me, or even myself when I look into the mirror.
Our lives are to be lived with love and happiness, even if things don’t turn out the way we would like them – these situations are also a blessing because we learn from them. I believe that if we count our blessings we will be given even more a hundredfold.
